The ideal candidate will have significant experience in aviation safety, specifically within Part 135 operations involving large business jets, as well as smaller fixed-wing and rotary operations. This role is critical to ensuring the safety and well-being of our members, providing oversight on all aviation-related operations, with safety as the top priority.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and compliance of all aviation operations (part 135 & 121), including large business jets, smaller fixed-wing aircraft, and rotary-wing operations.
- Oversee the implementation and management of a Safety Management System (SMS) that monitors and mitigates risks across all aviation operations, prioritizing member safety.
- Conduct comprehensive safety audits on aviation partners, ensuring adherence to BX’s safety standards, FAA regulations, and ICAO, EASA, and other global aviation authorities' requirements.
- Coordinate emergency response plans and work closely with flight and ground crews to ensure member safety is always prioritized in both routine and emergency situations.
- Monitor real-time safety risks during BX expeditions and provide immediate guidance and support for flight crew and operations teams.
- Lead safety briefings with flight crews, operational teams, and BX staff to ensure full understanding of safety protocols specific to large business jets, smaller fixed-wing aircraft, and rotary operations.
- Liaise with private jet and charter operators, ensuring compliance with Part 121 & 135 regulations and industry best practices for high-capacity aircraft and smaller aviation operations.
- Consult with Expedition Leaders and operations teams to ensure aviation-related elements of trip planning are aligned with the highest safety standards.
- Provide regular safety and compliance reports to BX leadership and ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date for regulatory bodies.
- Travel as needed to conduct safety assessments and oversee aviation operations during expeditions.
Key Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in aviation safety and compliance with a focus on Part 121 & 135 operations for large business jets, as well as fixed-wing and rotary operations.
- Previous experience as a commercial or private pilot, with strong knowledge of flight operations and aviation safety standards.
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage Safety Management Systems (SMS) in line with FAA, ICAO, and other global aviation regulations.
